Advocacy

We serve as your personal financial advocate or as a financial neutral for you and your spouse.

Listening

We listen, collaborate and educate.

We work together to address your specific situation.  No two divorces are ever the same.

Divorce Financial Planning

We use the concepts of financial planning throughout the divorce process to provide you with information so you can make decisions with confidence.

What is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®?

Alternative Divorce Solutions offers you the knowledge and experience of working with a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®). Much like an attorney is well-versed in the law or a mediator has experience in finding common ground on issues of contention, a CDFA® brings a wealth of knowledge specific to the financial implications of a divorce. Working with a CDFA® can provide you with a deeper understanding of your current finances as well as help to simplify complex valuations and divisions of assets.   By collecting financial data and analyzing a variety of scenarios, a CDFA® provides a clearer financial outcome so that you are more informed when deciding whether or not to accept a settlement offer.

A Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® gathers financial data and brings the methodology of financial planning directly into the divorce process.  A CDFA® can advise you on a variety of areas including helping you understand short-term and long-term implications of accepting different settlement offers, outlining present and future tax concerns, and focusing on asset division in order to find as equitable a solution as possible for both parties.  Having a CDFA® involved throughout the divorce process is especially important when dealing with complex financial situations such as self-employment or business ownership, valuing and dividing pensions, dividing multiple properties or rental properties, or understanding complex benefits such as stock options or non-qualified deferred compensation.

Our process begins by getting to know you and your goals. We’ll set up an initial consultation and understand where you are now and where you’d like to be. Then we begin creating a plan to help you get there.

We do this in one of two ways:

As a Financial NEUTRAL – helping couples find an agreement that meets both of their needs.

As your Financial ADVOCATE – As your advocate, we only work for you, looking out for your best interests. We want to make the complicated easy to understand, so that you feel confident about every decision you make.

We understand how difficult this is for you. That’s why our proven approach is to put you and your unique needs front and center.

We are experts at listening to what’s needed and coming alongside to find creative, unique solutions. We have an experienced staff and a team dedicated to helping you find solutions you can feel good about. We’ll walk beside you as long as you need us.

We integrate financial planning into the divorce process, giving you a window into how the proposed settlement will work for you now and in the future.

Whether you will be going through Mediation, Collaborative Divorce, the court system or something in-between, we work together to craft a process and solution that fits you.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
